Specie decisamente poco comune, ancorché ci sono avvistamenti e foto anche di oltre un decennio fa. La splendida foto in apertura dell'amico Lorenzo Vantaggiato è da S. Caterina (Lecce), Punta Lea, in immersione notturna a circa 20m di profondità. Ci sono report di questa specie anche da Gallipoli (Lecce).
