Benvenuti in Salento Sommerso

Wellcome to Salento Sommerso

The best way to appreciate the Marine Biodiversity of the Salento peninsula, an important geographic area in South-East Italy, a natural watershed between the Ionian Sea and the Southern Adriatic Sea. Our group is made up of underwater friends with a passion for photography who have been acquiring images for over a decade, helping to document the impressive biodiversity that populates the sea surrounding our peninsula. So far we have produced images of very many different species taken in their natural environment.

A new species of marine Heterobranch has recently been described on Salento specimens from our research. It is a new species belonging to the genus Runcina. This species is present in many places in Salento even if given the size of a few millimeters it is very little visible

I Gobidi
